Add your total points from all 3 rounds for a total score.
This is the 4th annual FGB fundraiser to whom the proceeds will be donated to Athletes For a Cure - supporting research for prostate cancer, and The Wounded Warrior Project.
Today, every man, woman in uniform serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, offers up sweat and sometimes blood and tears defending a country, their community, and you. Competing in Fight Gone Bad will be more than merely saying thank you. You will be sweating while some Army Rangers are rucking up the Hindu Kush Mountains in Afghanistan or Navy SEALs stacking on a door in some Baghdad slum. They may never meet you in person, but they thank you for your sacrifice to train and raise money and awareness on behalf of AfaC for the Wounded Warrior Project.
What you’re doing matters to every warrior serving this country. Your efforts will directly support American brothers and sisters wounded in combat defending our way of life.
For more information about this event and to register, go to Fight Gone Bad Fundraiser. We hope you will join us! ALL are welcome!
CrossFit Flagstaff will have class on Saturday, September 26 at 9:00am and 12:00 Noon. Please let us know which class you would like to attend to do the Fight Gone Bad Fundraiser Workout. Please contact Katie Lowe at 928.853.2459 or Cullen Young-Blackgoat at 928.255.2288 with any questions.

We will definitely miss her, so to send her off in grand style, a few of us broke out our 80's garb and took her out to Ladies 80's night!
Not our typical gym attire....but anything for Lauren!
WE WILL MISS YOU, LAUREN! GOOD LUCK!!

Successful lifting depends on four
elements: area of base, center of gravity, combined center of gravity,
and torque. If the aspiring coach understands the relationship between
these elements and how they inform technique, the quick identification
of faults and their respective remedies becomes automatic.
Area
of base is a simple concept. It is the field delineated by the outside
of the athlete’s feet and the space between them, length and breadth.
It changes in size based on foot position, but is always rectangular.
Center
of gravity is the point within any body around which its mass is evenly
distributed. For our purposes, we can think of it as the point on which
gravity acts. While coaching, we must worry about three separate
centers of gravity: that of the athlete, that of the object lifted, and
that created when they are joined together (the combined center of
gravity).
At rest, the athlete’s center of gravity lies somewhere on a
vertical line between the pelvis and the navel and just dorsal of the
frontal plane, its exact location dependent on gender and individual
anthropometry. The object’s center of gravity lies in its geometric
center, assuming it is of constant shape, i.e. a barbell rather than a
sandbag or water-filled keg.
The combined center of gravity of
the two lies somewhere on the line between the athlete’s center of
gravity and the object’s center of gravity, biased closer to whichever
weighs more.
Finally, torque is the tendency for a force to
cause rotation around a fixed point. When lifting, our primary concern
is torque about the hip caused by gravitational pull on the combined
center of gravity.
Our objective in any lift is to move an
object exactly opposite gravity and to hold it in its highest position
for an acceptable period of time. To do so, we must vertically align
our three centers of gravity (athlete, object, and combined) with the
center of our area of base, minimizing torque and thereby maximizing
efficiency.
Faults arise when these conditions of vertical alignment are not met.

great as well and we should be going home early tomorrow afternoon.

Come to CrossFit Flagstaff Saturday, August 15th at 9:00 a.m.! Bring a friend -or two! Bring your KIDS! CrossFit Flagstaff KIDZ is also hosting a free Saturday event to introduce kids to the fun of fitness and health. Many wonder what CrossFit is all about and each month we will be hosting a free Saturday event in which everyone is invited to come and participate, learn, ask questions, and socialize! Watch the calendar for the dates and locations, as they will vary.
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general,
and inclusive of many and varied movements. Our specialty is not specializing in one single thing. Combat, survival,
many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.
The
intro will be approximately an hour long and is open to all fitness and
experience levels. The CrossFit program is designed for universal
scalability making it the perfect application for any committed
individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for
elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out
from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity to each individual
based on need and experience; we don’t change programs per individual.
This is a group workout that will start with a warmup, followed by an intro to the movements and expectations in the workout, and the actual workout will consist of approximately 30 minutes of intense physical activity working:
1. Cardiovascular/respiratory endurance- ability of body systems to gather, process, and deliver oxygen.
2. Stamina – The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and utilize energy.
3. Strength – The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force.
4. Flexibility – the ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint
5. Power – the ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply maximum force in minimum time.
6. Speed – The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement.
7. Coordination- The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement.
8. Agility – The ability to minimize transition time from one movement patter to another.
9. Balance – the ability to control the placement of the bodies center of gravity in relation to its support base
10. Accuracy – The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity.
Once
you have been to a free Saturday event, if you are interested in more,
all other Saturday's in the month are open to the public at the normal
drop-in class rate. If you are hooked and you want even more than that
and are committed to working hard to make a change in your life, we
offer two options for becoming a CrossFit Flagstaff member. The first option is 5 introductory private sessions scheduled at your convenience with a personal trainer prior to joining the group
classes. The second option is a 5-week On-Ramp course to
ramp you up and introduce you to the foundational movements
and how our gym works. The On-Ramp courses are offered quarterly and
the next On-Ramp course will be August 31-October 2 at 7:00 a.m. Reserve your spot soon as space is limited. If the course fills to
capacity, we will ask you to wait until the next course in December, or you can go through 5 private sessions.
Please feel free to call if you have any questions. 928-607-6139
